Gabby’s Solo Art Show

My wife Gabby opens her first solo show this Thursday.

My Life With Her is ten-plus years in the making. Since we landed in Sydney she’s been building a visual journal — cycles, relationships, chapters. The show puts it all in one room: self-portraits, cyanotypes, textiles, collage, recycled materials.

I’ve had the luck of watching her process up close, from idea to finished work. What still gets me is how she takes these life circumstances and turns it into something that hits and helps me understand some things better.

I also got to make a short animated film for the exhibition. Hand-drawn, frame by frame, no brief — just Gabby’s art as the starting point.
